Some fifteen or sixteen policemen had arrived, but since the students had retreated in the opposite direction, the only ones caught were me and Yamabuki. After we gave our names and explained the whole sequence of events, they told us to come down to the station at any rate, so we went to the police station, laid out the entire course of the affair before the superintendent, and then went back to our lodgings.
